Pilar de la Horadada is the southernmost town of the province of Alicante, on the border with the Región de Murcia: about 24,300 people live here all year (INE, 1 January 2025). The town centre sits a few kilometres inland; the homes of Alma Bungalows 4 are on the coast side, in Torre de la Horadada.
Torre de la Horadada takes its name from an old coastal watchtower and has a small marina. Six of Pilar de la Horadada's beaches flew the Blue Flag in 2026, the international award for water quality, safety and services: Las Higuericas, Puerto, El Conde, Jesuitas and Rocamar around Torre de la Horadada, and Mil Palmeras just to the north.
For everyday life the town has its own integrated health centre with a 24-hour emergency service, and the Lo Romero golf course is within the municipality. Torrevieja, with its hospital and shopping, is a short drive north, and the Mar Menor and San Pedro del Pinatar are just to the south.
